SUMMARY:
The Sign Language Instructor is primarily responsible for providing quality sign language instruction to community members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide high-quality sign language instruction to community members / general public.
• Ability to teach in-person and/or virtually.
• Responsible for preparing weekly instruction.
• Employ a variety of teaching styles in order to effectively teach content.
• Ensure all learning materials are accessible.
• Be able to document and assess educational outcomes of progress and attendance.
• Motivate students to learn more about sign language and the Deaf community.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate strong punctuality and reliability.
• Ability to travel and have reliable transportation.
• Flexible hours.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficient in America Sign Language (ASL) expressively and receptively.
• Have experience teaching American Sign Language to others.
• Involvement in Deaf Community for at least five years.
• Have experience teaching adolescent and adult learners.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, and to relate in a professional, helpful manner.
• Covid-19 vaccination is required.
