Inclusive Events

At DEAF, Inc., we're committed to creating inclusive events that celebrate diversity. We believe that everyone should have access to fun and engaging activities, regardless of their hearing abilities. Take a look at our list of inclusive activities or get in touch with us if you don't find what you're looking for.

ASL Storytelling

Children love stories. Stories in ASL are even more magical. Why? Because they add another dimension. ASL storytelling, in a nutshell, is pure captivation, and it can be immensely helpful for new signers. It aids in language development and improves listening and expressive communication skills.

A white woman in orange/brown plaid shirt. She has long curly brown hair and glasses. She is looking away from the camera and smiling. She is signing, "Tree." There are shelves lined with children's books in the background. The walls are tan with a brown framed, large window.

ASL Tours

DEAF, Inc. partners with local art museums to enhance the accessibility of their exhibits and programs for the deaf community. Numerous museums now provide guided tours led by deaf individuals proficient in sign language, instead of employing an interpreter alongside a hearing person.

There is a group of people in an art museum. One wall is lined with tall windows in the background. There are two giant artworks on the wall on the left. There is an ASL docent, who is pointing at an artwork. She has blond, curly hair and dressed in black. There is a group of people watching her and a white man seated in the middle of the room.

Breakfast with Signing Santa

One of our most popular Youth & Family inclusive events is Breakfast with Signing Santa. Experience the magic as Santa Claus communicates with children using sign language. Each child receives a special gift from the North Pole and has the opportunity to meet Santa’s live reindeer. Children will enjoy delicious breakfast, and interactive holiday-themed games, arts and crafts.

Save the Date:  Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Santa is sitting on a wooden chair, he is looking down and giving a gift to a white girl sitting on his lap. The girl has long blonde hair with a red bow. She's wearing a white sweater and black pants. Both the girl and santa are smiling. The girl is holding onto the gift and looking down at it.

Deaf Teen Club

Deaf Teen Club is a support group for Deaf teens under the Youth & Family program. It serves as a gathering place for deaf teens, promoting socialization, leadership, and the development of independent skills.

There is a group of teenagers, huddled in a circle. They are signing to each other. There is a wodden overhead providing them shade and a brick building behind them.

The Great Pumpkin Patch

The Great Pumpkin Patch is a beloved inclusive event in our Youth & Family program, featuring Halloween-themed festivities. Our annual Halloween event showcases our dedication to inclusivity, providing children of all abilities with the opportunity to fully participate in the fun. Join us for a spook-tacular evening filled with signing, games, and creative activities!

There is a little girl dressed in leopard print with cat ears. She is standing behind a white table. The table is almost at her shoulders. She is throwing an orange ping ball. There's a group of painted, halloween colored cans and the orange ball is above one of the cans.
There is a white, female interpreter with shoulder length blonde hair. She is signing an instrument. She is wearing a black top and pants. Behind her is a band playing within a red taped off area. There are trees in the background, behind everyone.
