DEAF, Inc. joined Pink Wings of Hope's Pink Out Day on Friday, October 27, 2023, to recognize their efforts to increase cancer awareness among the Deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Pink Wings of Hope is a support group of deaf, hard of hearing, or DeafBlind individuals who have been touched by cancer. They each have faced obstacles when they were unable to communicate with anyone about their frustrations, fear, hope, and joy. They were unable to join other support groups because the group couldn’t afford interpreters or they truly didn’t understand what it is like to have hearing loss. They have information and resources available in sign language, including educational videos and social gatherings.
This support group helps connect newly diagnosed patients with survivors. At Pink Wings of Hope, there’s a whole community ready to provide support for the newly diagnosed deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind individuals.
